Many of us have wondered about our loved ones after they've passed. Do they stay with us? Are they with others who have passed? And most importantly, what do they have to say? We sat down with psychic medium Lisa Scrivens to answer some of our most burning questions.

Little Box of Rocks: When and how did you know that you could communicate with those who have crossed over?

Lisa Scrivens: When I was little about 3 years old I remember seeing and hearing things that others couldn’t. My grandmother and mother could too. As I grew older my ability grew stronger. I was able to have conversations with spirit.

LBOR: What does your typical day look like?

Lisa: I tour the country about half of the year providing group readings for people. It is fun an exciting to see new places and meet new people. When I am home in Winnipeg I work out of Revolution Wellness center providing private readings.

LBOR: What is the most common message that our loved ones wish to convey after they’ve crossed over?

Lisa: They want you to know that they are okay. They also want you to know they are around you helping you and wanting the best for you.

LBOR: Do you believe that to some degree we all have the ability to connect with the other side?  If so, how do they try to communicate with us and what is the best way to know that they are with us?

Lisa: I believe everyone can learn but some people have talent just like someone who is talented playing the piano and some people can take lessons but might never be as good. Spirits can interrupt electrical equipment. So they can manipulate your phone and TV and lights in your house.

They send messengers to say hello like animals and objects such as dimes.

LBOR: I’m sure your job elicits a lot of curiosity and questions.  What is the most common question you get asked and what is your answer?

Lisa: I get asked if I can see and hear spirit all the time even if I am out at a mall or in public.

I always try to live my life without being interrupted by spirit when I have personal time.  I am open to spirit when I am inviting them to communicate with me. It's all about setting boundaries.

LBOR: What is it like on the other side?

Lisa: That’s hard to explain. Imagine holding a new born baby and all the love that is given to that little soul as you hold it. That is how (insert name ie. God, Creator, Universe) is holding us as we enter heaven. We are surrounded by complete Love.

LBOR: Can you share your favorite self-care ritual?

Lisa: I love being in water it seems to clear my energy, so if it’s a pool, hot tub, bath or shower it is so cleaning energetically.

LBOR: Do you have a favorite crystal? If so, which one and why?

Lisa: I like a clear crystal quartz, it seems to be my go to for a lot of things. It is great for cleansing and clearing and absorption of energy.
