Meet Hannah

Hannah is a lifestyle blogger and Architect who shares her creativity and personal style through thekraus-house.com to provide daily inspiration in all aspects of life with a focus on fashion, beauty, career, home and fitness. After graduating from the University of Tennessee in May of 2017 and moving to Nashville, her working career began causing her to crave an outlet to embrace her girly style and thus came the beginning of The Kraus House. After working for almost a year many daily style posts have been incorporated, such as #workwearwednesday to provide unique ways of adding your personality into every outfit whether that be in your career, home or weekend style!

While Hannah has implemented her style into everyday aspects of life, she knows how easy and monotonous work can become by falling into the same routine. It’s amazing how quick your day can go by when you modify one thing that gives you a positive outlook! Every morning when she wakes up she takes to heart “look good, feel great” and puts a little bit of effort in hopes of it going a long way throughout her day!

3 Ways to Stay Motivated for Work

1. Get Ready EVERY Morning

While it can be difficult to start your day off on the right foot, one thing we all can control is how we look which directly reflects how we feel! Every night before I go to bed I put my outfit for the office at the front of my closet. While it might not always be a hot pink blazer or a sequin top, I make sure I have a good idea of what I’m wearing to work the next day. It not only makes me feel that much more prepared the night before, but it also saves me time in the morning and I usually look more put together than if I would’ve picked an outfit that morning. While the outfit is half the battle, hair and makeup can be just as important! I am the first person to admit that I do not and will not ever spend an hour or more getting ready in the morning because I just don’t have time for it, but I do take measures to plan to look my best!

One little trick I do before heading to bed, again saving me time in the morning, is French braid my hair and sleeping on it to give the perfect beachy waves for the next day. To let you know just how much time I spend on my hair, I simply undo the braid on my drive to work and shake my hands threw it once or twice and there ya go! As for makeup, I recently switched to mascara makeup which has everything in one compact so it takes me less than 5 min to apply a little contour, highlight and a brush of mascara and I’m out the door! You can read more about it on my blog. If you’ve been feeling down recently about your effort towards work, try one of these simple tips that I believe really effect my daily work life. As mentioned before I am a huge advocate for “look good, feel great” and try to remember that when I don’t want to plan ahead, because let’s be honest we’d all be our best selves if this happened every single day!

2. Listen to Podcasts instead of Music

Let me start off by saying, if your work doesn’t allow headphones or music of any kind I’m sorry and you should revolt, just kidding . . . . but really. I switched up my normal Spotify playlists within the past couple months for podcasts on all kinds of topics and found myself being much more interested in the content and therefor allowing my monotonous work to go by much faster! Some of my favorite podcasts include:

- The Influencer Podcast: Julia Solomon
- GirlBoss: Sophie Amoruso
-Goal Digger: Jenna Kutcher

I’ve found that listening to topics that genuinely interest me makes me more aware of what I’m doing in the background and keeps me nice and awake! Just scrolling through Spotify, I became tired and felt like the day would never end. Thanks to some great podcasts I’ve come to love I've really changed my outlook on the day when I reach for a podcast and make the day fly by with each episode lasting around 45 min.

How to stay motivated

3. Make Goal Lists

Being an architect I find myself sometimes overflowed with work and stuck on where to begin. I have found that making easy lists that are maybe 20 items long, really helps me move forward and keeps me focused throughout the day. If I need to answer a phone call, someone stops by my office or any other interruption I can go back to my list and pick right back up where I left off. This has also been something I enjoy doing on my breaks for after work tasks related to when I get home to to relieve stress. I don't know about y'all but I always feel like I have a million things to do as soon as I walk through my front door, and writing them down helps me realize 1. I don’t have a million things to do, 2. everything can’t be done in one day, so get a few things done, and save the rest for another day. Staying organized and goal oriented is such a huge part of my life, but unfortunately, I always make the big jumps and plan two months- ten years ahead and forget about the daily items that really get me feeling overwhelmed. While in college, I swore by my Erin Condren life planner, but for some reason after graduating felt as if I didn’t need a planner and I could keep it all in my head but boy was I wrong! I recently re-ordered my favorite layout and since receiving, have felt 100x more organized and put together. It’s amazing how writing down your goals and daily tasks can help you feel so much better!

I hope these tips and tricks for staying motivated at work can be implemented into your daily life and help you be the best you! As always, feel free to reach out to me on The Kraus House or @hannah.thekraushouse on Instagram as I love chatting with other boss babes and be sure to tag me if you’d like me to share with #thekraushouse!
